Handtmann Ltd Are Exhibiting at Meat@Ifex

Handtmann Ltd is recognised as the market leading supplier of filling and portioning equipment within the food processing industry throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The company was established in 1986 and was the first marketing company directly set up by the Handtmann Maschinenfabrik Group which was founded more than 60 years ago and has more than 90 agencies and subsidiaries throughout the world. Handtmann was the inventor of the original vacuum filling machine in 1966 and the brand continues to compete in the marketplace today by setting new standards in technical innovation.

Handtmann launched its products in Ireland in 2011 when Martin Keane became the new Area Sales Manager for both Northern and Southern Ireland. Since then the company’s presence in the country has gone from strength to strength with Ireland rapidly becoming the fastest growing market for Handtmann Ltd. In the last year alone the number of Irish service engineers providing after sales support has doubled.

While the applications of Handtmann equipment cover multiple food categories, at least 80% of the business is focused on the meat sector. Martin Keane told us,
“We are very excited to be exhibiting at the Meat@IFEX exhibition next year. It is a fantastic venue and is the perfect audience for our technology. We are hoping to introduce our entry level machines to smaller scale sausage producers who up until now have been using more traditional methods such as piston fillers. We will also have information on the full range of equipment we supply as well as some of our brand new systems.”

Among many of the new start up success stories now using Handtmann equipment is Lisduff Fine Foods based in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. Robert Tormey is a butcher with over 40 years of experience behind him and his company’s black and white puddings have won several awards in competitions such as the Great Taste Awards 2017. In 2015 Lisduff purchased a Handtmann VF608 vacuum filler with filling, portioning and linking facilities. This system will be on show at the Handtmann stand at the IFEX show. Robert Tormey told us,
“We are now able to sell more of our pudding products because the Handtmann machine can make them a lot faster and as a result we are able to meet our growing supply demands while maintaining our award winning quality standards.”

In recent years Ireland has become a magnet for the latest in cutting edge food production technology. Dublin based company Granby became one of the first to trial and install the GS300 collating system for fresh sausage that provides automation from filling to depositing into trays.
