The First Choice Group has been in business for 16 years and now employs over 130 people the premises in Cannock, Staffordshire. The company specialises in meeting the needs of the commercial catering market and over the years has expanded the core business of commercial catering spare parts supply.

Today the company has diversified into the refrigeration, environmental solutions and engineer training sectors, as well as laundry, coffee and bakery spares in order to provide a wider and more comprehensive offering to customers in the foodservice industry.

First Choice Environmental Solutions is the specialist edition in the group and it specialises in solving the problems of food waste in professional kitchens. Working in partnership with leading manufacturers around the world, First Choice can offer new technologies to reduce excess water usage, protect drains from costly FOG build up and eliminate food waste storage and transport issues.

Combico UK Ltd represents the specialist training arm of the First Choice Group and provides technical training courses for global combi oven manufacturers at the dedicated onsite training facility. The company is continuing to expand on these available services, incorporating a wider range of equipment training, alongside the new and improved faster and fully responsive Combico UK website.

Expanding Combico Uk and the new Training Website:

Over the past year the CombicoUK website has undergone major reconstruction and now provides customers and users faster and easier access to vital technical information.

The CombicoUK TPT (Training Parts Technical) function offers the UK service industry the opportunity for easy access to technical, troubleshooting and spare part identification information for some of the world’s most popular cooking appliances, including RATIONAL AG and MKN. Access is also available for registered clients to wiring diagrams, parts explosions and other technical documentation and is supported with on-site technical advice from Technical Training Manager Martin Dagnall.

The new website has been designed to be fully responsive meaning it will resize and reposition its layout in order to work on any device, whether PC or hand held tablet. A tutorial video library has also be incorporated into the new site, alongside an interactive map of trained service companies, filtered by region and location. These new features are a result of a continued focus on improvement and support for customers; and training course bookings, payments and individual profile management functions are now performed by each individual user in their own online account.

The new website signals the future of CombicoUK as part of the First Choice Group and the ambitious plans to significantly expand the business by 2020. These developments will ensure continued investments are made into CombicoUK to provide training engineers with the very best in service and manufacturer training in the UK.

We are also pleased to announce that in order to meet the demand for our training courses and to provide a broader approach to manufacturer training, we have recently appointed Andy Lawrence, previously of Granuldisk, as a Technical Trainer. Andy has joined Martin’s team which we hope to expand further in the near future, to provide a varied range of training methods, utilising years of experience and expertise.

What’s more, Simon Groucutt has now also joined Combico UK, side stepping from his role in the Group’s HR department to become the dedicated Training Coordinator for the training division. Simon will bring into the mix his own knowledge and ideas, having previously worked in the energy industry as a qualified trainer.

5 Year Business Plan:

The business has seen double digit growth year on year, since its inauguration in 1999 when it employed just 3 people. The firm is outgrowing its current headquarters and is intending to move to newly built lakeside premises where all departments can be housed under one roof, rather than the 5 units as it is at the moment. The new 6 acre site will provide parking for over 200 vehicles and the specialist warehouse and training facilities, alongside the 3 storey offices will cover 100,000 sqft in total. This will enable all of the expanding departments, from Purchasing and Technical Support to Customer Service and the in-house Marketing team to be situated in one central location to further maximise the opportunity for further growth. Located by the M6 Toll, the new HQ will be perfectly located and accessible for customers to attend industry events hosted by First Choice and take part in the specialist Combico UK training courses.
